Absences
Regular attendance is most important.
If your child is absent, please let us know the reason as soon as
possible by a written letter, telephone call or personal visit.
Absences with no parental explanation will be recorded as unauthorised.
If your child is absent and no message is received by 10.00 a.m.
we may well contact you for an explanation. The registers are checked
regularly by our Education Social Worker who will investigate high
percentages of unauthorised absences and lateness.
Whole school attendance
– Pupils of Compulsory School Age
Term 1 : 92.5%
Term 2 : 93.6%
Term 3 : 92%
If possible please let
us know beforehand of appointments at the hospital, dentist, doctor
etc.
If it is necessary to
take the family on holiday during term time, please ask for a holiday
form from the school. If you choose to take your holidays during
school term time, please note that it is school policy not to provide
work. Please do not embarrass staff by asking. Only 10 school days
per school year can be authorised, any additional days will be unauthorised.
A list of school holidays is sent to you each year.
Please let us know any
helpful medical information about your child, e.g. disabilities
or allergies.
If both parents are working
during the day, or you are not on the telephone, it is essential
for us to have a telephone number of a relative, friend, neighbour
etc., whom we can contact and who would take responsibility for
your child if your child is taken ill during the day. It is vitally
important that you inform us of change of address or telephone number.
If a mobile phone number is the designated line of contact please
keep it switched on.
The School Doctor and Nurse visit the school on a regular basis.
A selection of Reception children have a full medical to which parents/guardians
are invited. Additional medicals take place as necessary as do regular
hearing and eye tests.
