On behalf on the staff and governors of Johnstown Infant School may I extend a warm welcome.
The original school was built in 1976. In 2001 an extension and re-model was completed. The accommodation now comprises of a large early years unit with an enclosed play area, mainstream classrooms and provision for physically disabled children. The grounds comprise of grass and hard play areas with staff parking facilities.
The staff are committed to providing a stimulating and aesthetic environment where your child will receive a broad, balanced and relevant education that will provide not only for their intellectual development but also their social, emotional and physical growth.
The proposed number on roll for September 2008 is 178 full time and 35 part time Nursery Pupils. There are six full time teaching staff including the Head Teacher, three nursery nursse, three LSA’s, one administrator, three lunchtime supervisors, one caretaker, cook and kitchen assistant.
Most children at the age of seven years transfer to the local Junior School, which is situated on Bangor Road.
Parents are highly supportive of the school, and there is a thriving home and school association in existence.
We hope that your child’s time spent with us will be happy and purposeful.
